Catholic Sisters Week

Catholic Sisters Week (CSW) is a national celebration honoring the enduring witness of Catholic Sisters across the United States. In 2026, the Felician Sisters of North America will lead with a customized week-long theme—Hope Unbroken.

Catholic Sisters Week has long been a time to celebrate the profound contributions of women religious in education, healthcare, advocacy and service. In recent years, however, the realities of our world—marked by division, violence, displacement and deep social inequities—have called for something more. In response to the pressing social justice challenges of our time, the Felician Sisters of North America continue a shift from celebration alone to deeper awareness, reflection and witness.

We chose Hope Unbroken because it speaks to a hope that does not ignore suffering, but endures within it. It is a hope rooted in faith, sustained by prayer, and expressed through courageous ministry, justice work and love for God’s people.

Hope Unbroken highlights the living presence of Felician Sisters today—women whose hope remains steadfast through prayer, ministry, service, justice work and love for God’s people.

Throughout Catholic Sisters Week, we invite you to experience Hope Unbroken in person and online. Many of our convents will display a “Ribbons of Hope”—a visible chain of shared words and prayers of hope written by Sisters, Associates, staff and guests. If you are able, we welcome you to visit one of our convent locations to view this collective expression of hope and solidarity. You can also join us virtually by visiting the Felician Sisters of North America on Facebook, where we will share daily reflections, photos of Ribbon of Hope displays, and stories of Felician Sisters living hope each day.

Through shared prayer, visual symbols, storytelling, and digital engagement, Catholic Sisters Week invites Sisters, Associates, staff, partners, and the wider community to celebrate hope that is visible, communal, and unbroken.

Serving where needed since 1874

Founded in Poland in 1855, the Felician Sisters are a congregation of women religious inspired by the spiritual ideals of their foundress, Blessed Mary Angela Truszkowska, and Saints Francis of Assisi, Clare of Assisi and Felix of Cantalice. Arriving in North America in 1874 following Blessed Mary Angela’s directive “to serve where needed,” they helped to weave the social service system. Today, the Felician Sisters founded, sponsor or support through the presence of our sisters, more than 40 ministries – all continuing to evolve to meet the needs of the people they serve.
